This group tour is perfect for those who are fascinated with the dark arts as the story of the Pendle witches is well known for its macabre events and tragic outcome.  Travel through spectacular Lancashire scenery in the shadow of Pendle Hill while you listen to a historical commentary spanning medieval times to present day, including tales of the Witches of Pendle, Oliver Cromwell,  the Civil War, notorious Highwaymen and much more ...

10.30am Meet your guide.

Your guide will meet you at Huntley’s Country Stores in Samlesbury. There will be an opportunity to buy a coffee before your tour begins.

11.15am Whalley

 Perched on the banks of the River Calder, Whalley in the Ribble Valley is the largest district in Lancashire.  This is a  charming village, filled with historic buildings, characterful shops and  lovely cafes and restaurants.

1.00pm Lunch at The Calf's Head Inn 

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque conservation village of Worston, The Calf’s Head Inn is a country restaurant with a great reputation for excellent food and friendly service.  It has a history stretching back 400 years and views of Pendle Hill from the attractive outdoor garden area. Enjoy a 2 course carvery lunch with a dessert trolley of legend!

2.30pm Countryside tour

The village of Downham in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies at the foot of Pendle Hill, close to the thriving market town of Clitheroe. It is often hailed as the most beautiful village in Lancashire.  You then travel on past the tranquil ruins of the 12th century Sawley Abbey ,over the Pendle Hills, before finally descending  back down to Sabden village, notorious for being the home of the Pendle witches.

3.30pm Pendle Heritage Centre.

End your tour of mystery and magic with a visit to Pendle Heritage Centre, housing the Pendle Witches Museum.  The museum showcases the history and archaeology of the Park Hill farmstead, Vernacular buildings of Pendle Forest, Conservation work of Heritage Trust for the North-West as well as the story of the Pendle Witches, George Fox and the Quakers. Once the spell is lifted, board your coach for the journey home.
